Do It Yourself and Work Harder

"There's always someone who will do it cheaper"

How often do you experience the notion that by doing it yourself you will save money, save time and be more efficient. In reality, the opposite is true. This belief/practice is a recipe for mediocrity.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy that undermines staff confidence and initiative and can create a culture of control. This is particularly relevant if the 'do it myself' attitude originates from the business owner.

Exponents of this belief system use justifications like "I can't afford it" or 'I can't trust anyone to do it' or 'by the time I brief someone, I could have done it myself' ... Sound familiar?

Without doubt, "Any business is enriched and improved through collaboration”.

Yet many businesses continue to practice the opposite under the guise of 'efficiency' or ‘affordability". The excuses are varied, creative and endless. It's akin to hearing a smoker tell you why they don't want to give up smoking or can't give up.

Finding people to partner with you in your business (or life for that matter) often requires a considerable investment of time and effort. Embrace it, accept it - Without effort there can be no reward.

So do what YOU do well and find people who do what THEY do well and then hire them, work with them. The money will return to your business many fold.

Adopt an abundant attitude and watch how your business is transformed.
