If you're like me, getting an unsolicited email that is trying to sell you this or that is frustrating to say the least. How did they get my email anyway?

I have always believed that there had to be a better way. And there is, because every now and then I receive an email with information that does contain something that interests me. So we decided to put our 101 email marketing skills to the test.
Today we sent out our email campaign using these simple techniques as a guide:
1) 'Everyone' is not a target market group. Make sure it's relevant to the people you send it to.
2) KISS. Keep It Short & Simple. A simple clear message wins over a page of information everytime.
3) Make the content relevant - The goal should be to generate a positive response / enquiry not just a sale.
4) Have a simple call to action. This could be as simple as a link to a website with "Read More".
The results were above my expectations 32.87% (lets say a third). That is a great result in anyones book.
So I guess the lesson is; relevant, compelling email marketing does work. The trick is to keep it relevant and compelling. Stay tuned.
